I arrived at a new school,
On My 14th birthday.
They all asked my name,
Til I said “Go Away”

Then one bright spark Lewis
Retorted with GLEE!
We’ll just call You Fred.
So it stuck hard with Me.

The Teachers all latched on,
Friends and family too.
They all called Me Fred.
What WAS I To DO!?

Left school in 67,
Not wanting to go.
But my time was up
Now Work I should show.

So now when folk asked Me My name,
I reply “Just Fred”
It seemed friendly and plain
And would stick in their head.

Years passed slowly
Til internet came.
Then life passed by quickly
Which seemed a real shame!

At first I denied it.
No interest to Me.
Until I found Myself House-bound
And then I could see!

A whole world of faces
Interesting places.
Contacts were made
No journey’s – No traces.

Then somebody told Me
Domains are so cheap.
